Positive Review From FAA Certifies Graduates Of Louisiana Tech As Transport Pilot

Recently at Ruston the officials of Louisiana Tech University has stated that the Federal Aviation Administration has permitted the aviation department to certify the students of Professional Aviation as transport pilots. The students will be certified authorized degree in aviation and will eligible for Airline Transport Pilot by completing only 1,000 flight hours in comparison to that of 1,500 hours that are a need by the other citizens. The Department of Professional Aviation of Louisiana Tech University has the reputation of providing high quality graduate level program for more than four decades.

This department is affiliated to University Aviation Association and has accreditation from Aviation Accreditation Board International. It maintains a very high standard of education and is up-to-date about the different developments and the use of recent technologies in the aviation industry. The university accomplishes good liaison with the big names of the aviation industry. Through internship programs, they link their students with the big air carrier companies, regional airlines, government bodies, corporate aviation companies.

Gary Odom, Head of Department of Professional Aviation has stated that this certification and 500 hour difference will help students who have successfully completed the graduate program of the university get a job easily. He predicted that there will be a shortfall of pilots in next 15-20 years and the students will have high chances of climbing up the ladder due to their seniority. This will help them in getting high salaries and better schedules for flying in the future. On Monday, the officials of the university said that the undergraduate program run on aviation management and professional aviation got positive feedback from the accreditation board. A team from the accreditation authority had visited the university during the fall.

During the visit, almost 60 aviation students were interviewed through classroom visits and other methods. The report mentioned that the students are proud and satisfied about the university. These students had positive feedbacks regarding their faculty, the environment of the university, the contact with the senior students and the overall ambience of the institution. With the report from the accreditation body, a number of propositions were listed. But no such recommendations were made by the team.

The university was given the opportunity to submit their responses on the proposition mentioned in the report. The reply of the university along with the final report of the team from the accreditation body will be forwarded to Aviation Accreditation Board International’s committee for accreditation. The next course of action will be decided in the next meeting, to be scheduled on February, 2014. On receiving the report, Odom has stated that both its students, staff and faculty are very content with the findings. He has said that the university will strive to be the leader in proving both flight and aviation management. Best quality education will be awarded to students all through. The Louisiana Tech University is listed among the 26 universities and colleges in United States and Puerto Rico, which have their aviation program accredited by AABI and are reviewed by it.
